| Firstly,
the pre-requisites for any diver wishing to become a PADI Instructor
are:
Age Requirement:
18 years+
Dive Qualifications: PADI Divemaster or Dive Leader from other agency.
Dive
Qualifications: Have
a CPR certificate less than 2 years old.
Dive
Qualifications: Have been a certified diver
for a minimum 6 months.
Dive
Qualifications: Have a minimum of 60 logged
dives.
If you meet all
the above qualifications, it's time to start preparing for your
IDC.

Arrive Early
Ideally, we would like you to arrive at Crystal Dive IDC at least
7 days before the start of your IDC. This will give you time to
aquaint yourself with our resort, the local area and even take in
a few fun dives. Our PADI Course Director and any one of the Crystal
IDC team will always be around, ready to answer any questions.
Administration
Preparation
Along with the PADI IDC application form, you will need to bring
with you all your current dive certificates and CPR certificate
as well as any additional medical reports you feel necessary. The
application needs to have information regarding all past PADI courses.
If you have any
problems with this contact your local PADI office who will be able
to assist with any missing information. Please bring photocopies
of any non-PADI certifications.
You will also
need a valid credit card to pay your PADI fee’s as they do
not accept cash. The application form requires a RSTC medical form
to be completed. This can be done on Koh Tao or in your home country
but must be dated within 12 months. You will also need to bring
your logbook with you with proof of 100 logged dives.
IDC Prep. Course
A 1 or 2 day preparation course covering Dive Theory as well as
Skill and Rescue Assessments. Intially we review all your theoretical
knowledge, identifying areas where you need to improve. We give
presentations on these areas as well as practice exams.
We then take
you into our swimming pool where we conduct skills circuits designed
to improve your demonstrations to the quality expected by the PADI
examiner’s on the IE. We also conduct Rescue workshops to
ensure that your rescue skills are of an exemplary standard. Successful
completion of the IDC Prep gives you the ‘Pass’ guarantee
on the IE! |
